Clint Eastwood faces divorce

As many Massachusetts residents may know, actor Clint Eastwood has been the star of many popular movies. With his tough attitude he easily wins over many crowds. However, when looking at the man behind the actor it is important to note that Clint Eastwood, just like anyone else, has problems in his personal life.

Clint Eastwood and his wife Dina married in 1996 and the couple has raised one daughter. Over the past year, the two have faced several problems with Dina being admitted into a rehabilitation facility for anxiety. Recently, Dina withdrew her request for legal separation and filed for divorce. She is asking for physical custody of their child, spousal support and attorney fees. This will be Eastwood's second divorce.

Clint Eastwood's divorce, although perfectly human, will occur in a different manner than many other divorces. This is due to the number of high assets that are involved within the marriage. When a couple like this splits, the court must then decide how to divide their property.

In a situation where a valid prenuptial agreement has been signed, the court will follow its stipulations. When there is no prenuptial agreement, however, the court turns to the law. The state of Massachusetts follows equitable distribution when dividing marital property. This means that the assets are subject to division that is fair and just. The asset division may not result in a perfect 50/50 split.

Property that has been kept outside of the marriage is not subject to property division. This property is known as separate property. Separate property may include an inheritance or a family heirloom that has been passed down for generations.

Individuals in the state of Massachusetts with high assets must be careful in protecting what is rightfully theirs. Discussing the divorce with an experienced legal professional is one way to adequately do this.
