Kandi Burruss may have married without prenuptial agreement

Prenuptial agreements have become the norm in many marriages across the United States. These agreements open up difficult dialogue between couples, and protect individuals in the event of a later divorce.

Kandi Burruss has become well known to many Americans through her appearances on the show "Real Housewives of Atlanta." Recently, Burruss decided to tie the knot with producer boyfriend, Todd Tucker. Some reports believe that Tucker refused to sign a prenuptial agreement, and the couple married without one.

Without a prenuptial agreement, the couple's assets may be fair game in the event of divorce. Burruss is reportedly worth around $35 million dollars from her success as a singer, producer and songwriter. Todd, on the other hand, has an estimated value of $200,000. Many individuals question the decision not to have a prenuptial agreement, given Burruss's worth.

Prenuptial agreements do not only protect the wealthy. Although prenuptial agreements are mostly considered to protect one's assets, they also protect against gaining another's debts. When two individuals get married and student loan or other debt becomes a part of the picture, a prenuptial agreement may protect the individual who did not take on this debt. Further, prenuptial agreements are specific to individual circumstances and can be tailored to each couple in terms of what they believe is necessary to protect.

A prenuptial agreement may not be right for everyone, however, prenuptial agreements prove helpful in many circumstances. Discussing the possibility of a prenuptial agreement with an experienced legal professional in Massachusetts can help couples answer difficult questions and move forward with their marriage plans.
