NeNe Leakes is a well-known celebrity from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. In a recent interview, NeNe spoke out about her latest marriage and why the couple created a prenuptial agreement. NeNe had previously been married to the man and split with him in 2011 after 13 years.
NeNe claims that the remarriage was her opportunity to stay firm and set financial boundaries, just in case. NeNe called the prenup a "smart thing" and argued that there was nothing bad or wrong with having such an agreement. After all, no one can know what is going to happen in the future.
Prenuptial agreements do just that; they protect the future. Couples sign these agreements before marriage and lay out several agreed upon terms. Prenups allow couples to be open with one another and discuss difficult topics.
There are several advantages and disadvantages that should be taken into consideration when deciding if a prenuptial agreement in the state of Virginia is the right choice. A prenup allows each spouse to document out his or her property, which eventually reduces much of the conflict encountered in divorce. The document can also reflect any special arrangements that the couple decides to include. Further, a prenuptial agreement protects each individual from debt that the other has incurred.
Some disadvantages should also be taken into consideration. Often times, a prenuptial agreement may not come off as a romantic gesture. Timing is an important factor that comes into play for many couples discussing a prenuptial agreement. These agreements are also restricted in that they cannot decide child custody and support issues.
Each person has his or her own personal reasons for wanting a prenuptial agreement. As individuals or couples move forward in these decisions, it is wise to seek the help of an experienced legal professional in the state of Virginia.
